Explorers, library visits, crappy weather and the flu bug

The boys were given their first multi part assignment today. They have to write about an explorer of their choice. The time table is:
Explorer Choice: Friday, October 15
"Mapping Things Out" Notes: Friday, October 29
Rough Draft: Friday, November 5
Final Report (title page, illustration, route map, final draft, and bibliography): Friday, November 12

I sat down last night to make my list of things I wanted them to do and came across this. I am not one for reinventing the wheel, so I changed a few dates and we are using that.

Ethan picked Christopher Columbus (At my urging. The children's librarian said Columbus would be the easiest for a non-reader to do)Christian picked Marco Polo and Alex picked Henry Hudson.

We headed to the library to get some books and they are now reading away.

The has been raining off and on since last night. It isn't supposed to stop being nasty until after we get back into town. At least it isn't snow.

So everyone is sick. Adam was going to come over while his house was being overrun by Girl Scouts but when I called this morning I found out he had been up a good part of the night with a stomach ache. Ethan and Alex were going to go to Brandon's house after they were done with school, but Sandy called this morning and said Christopher was up most of the night with a stomach bug. Hopefully we don't catch either bug.

We are going to make cookies in a bit. That should cheer everyone up.
